In Love with Orange

When it comes to flowers, there are two which always remain my favorites: tulips and peonies! For ever winners! My love ones know this particularity  and make sure to always find a good opportunity for me to receive them. This statement is not randomly, en contraire… For a few days, the queen of my room was a big vase filled with orange tulips. This bouquet colored a lot of mornings and brought many smiles  on my face.  I wanted to keep this gifts for a long time, so I decided to create a dress that stole the color of my tulips.

The dress is dedicated to the young, but yet mature,  woman… emotionally and fashionably.  Someone who does not hide her sensibility and romanticism. I wanted to cover her body with natural fabrics: hide and feel free in the same time.

Using delicate colors (a romantic orange and a subtle cream) I overlaid a knitted lace over a linen fabric… both soft and light. Simple cuts, slightly  accentuated waist, playful shoulders and a back crossed only by two braces… should pursue this woman to dream, to allow her to access a virtual travel towards places where anything is possible: an escape to Paris for breakfast, a romantic evening on the beach, or just the right to give up to phone for a few hours and enjoy a girls getaway inside a summer garden.

Having the sketch and materials, it was time for work. While Mrs. N was taking care of the fabrication process, I decided to take the dress by its shoulders!

It was both fun and simple; I just love anything that involves scissors, needles and threads. Shortly? Handicraft. I took the two textures, and start cutting out numerous petals, an overlaid them on each shoulder. The process took longer than anticipated (although I was fully aware that anything done by hands will take at least half more than doing it by machinery) , but the value was there… and that is all it matters!

With my client (Ioana), being very eager to wear the dress, a had to rush to send it. She was so pleased, that she accepted to take  some very beautiful pictures, so I could spoil your eyes.
